Day 9

Last night I appeased my inner nerd and went to the Pixar Shorts at the Art Museum.

There will be a Toy Story 3. The guy who wrote Little Miss Sunshine is scripting it. weird and scary.

The place was jumping. They had a huge crowd and had to turn people away. Chesterfield's own Jeremy Lasky, Director of Photography for Pixar, was on hand to receive the Guggenheim Award and screen some great Pixar shorts. He also did a lively Q&A afterwards.

This free program really was a huge success.

Before that screening I popped by the Tivoli at a little before 6pm to check out the scene there. Excitement was in the air about The Thacker Case and the other films there. The volunteers were hard at work and people were filing in.

My 2nd film of the day was 1000 Journals at Webster. The film was preceeded by 2 short films. 1000 Journals was a great doc about an interactinve art project that released 1000 blank journals into the world with the hope that they would be filled out and sent back to Someguy, the artist who started the project. It was a powerful film about art and the process making expressive art.

It was my first trip to Webster for SLIFF. It is a more subdued vibe there.

In general I wish more people would check out the SLIFF stuff there and their their regular film series in general.
