DAY 5

Documentaries are the special for the day with several really nices ones being screened along with some dynamic dramas and shorts.

How It Is with Phooie
5pm
Tivoli

Mike Steinberg's beautiful film about his father is guarenteed to move you. It's more than a story about family. There are so many layers to this doc that you will be enthralled.

The Heartbeat Detector
6:30pm
Plaza Frontenac

Coming in at a little under two and a half hours, this thriller from France will leave you on the edge fo your seat. There's plenty of double dealing and blackmail to go around so bring a Ziploc to take home leftovers.

War Eagle, Arkansas
7pm
Tivoli

A really taut film abut family and community. Enoch Cass is a great baseball player. He has some great opportunities to take this talent and do great things with it. Unfortunately that means leaving home and the company of his best friend.

Shorts Program 4:Dramatic Shorts
9:15pm
Tivoli

Personally, I anxiously await Love You More, the short from Sam Taylor-Wood. Wood, one of the new British guard of hip emerging artists. In addition ot her film career, she currently has a hit on the BBC dance charts. She lined up a big directing gig in Hollywood based on this Buzzcocks themed short film. Love You More was just one the talks of Cannes this year. Steph Green's excellent New Boy is also being screened.

Shorts are a great opportunity to see emerging filmmakers and just relax from the docs and intense dramas of the day.

The Wrecking Crew
9:30pm
Tivoli

Anyone who loves Phil Spector's Wall of Sound needs to see this. The Wrecking Crew played on so many important records you would get dizzy counting. Everyone from The Monkees to Cher owes them homage. This documentary takes the band from obscurity and reveals them for the musical legends they truly are. Say no to Cutting Crew and yes to The Wrecking Crew!
