SLIFF Volunteering/last night

I did my duty last nght and volunteered to sell memberships for Cinema St. Louis at the Festival last night.

I enjoyed talking to people about Cinema St. Louis and the Festival in general. There definitely is an interest in independent and foreign film in our city. It is great to have a Festival of this caliber every year.

It was a good time and I enjoyed it.

The thing is, even if you cannot affored to go to the Film Festival you can sign up to volunteer and score some free passes for a film while helping out a great non profit.

The thing that amazes me is that CSL gets a lot of really solid volunteers to come back and help out each year. They love it. They believe in it. They augment this core of intrepid vols with new people resulting in a balance of young and old, serious and casual film buffs that truly care about cinema as an art form.

It was fun to be a part of a great team.

As for films....
I popped in for part of Martino Unstrung last night. From what I saw it was better then I had anticipated.

Fuel was a big draw and the audience that saw it was actively involved ni discourse after the film. You could see them mingling in the Lobby or talking as they exited.

I saw the Inferno at the Art Museum. It was awesome to see such a big crowd for a near century year old film.

The first weekend was very good for Cinema St. Louis. At least 10 sellouts were registered which is phenominal!
