Food Network in Town
Signs are up around town and the conversationalists are musing. The Foot (er, make that Food) Network's in town for tapings at, at least, the Iron Barley and the South City Diner. Does anyone know the locations of other shoots? How about which show is being taped here? Will I be able to spot Rachael Ray?
Thread below, if in the know.
the show is "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" so....no Rachael Ray for you, I'm afraid. Besides the two places you mentioned, Sweetie Pie's is also tapped for a visit.
Posted by Miss Cherry on Thu., Sep 20, 2007 at 10:21 PMIt's nice to see the Food Network branching out beyond the Hill for it's St. Louis episodes (not totally of course - there's been plenty of others - Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt coverage of Alton, IL and St. Louis donut shops was great).
I just wish we could be seen as a burgeoning foodie town like Cleveland - although FN doesn't really acknowledge Cleveland either. To wit: ruhlman.com (an amazing food blogger - here's an entry on his favorite bar in Cleveland: http://blog.ruhlman.com/ruhlmancom/2007/08/the-best-bar-in.html)
There's also that Iron Chef wannabe from Cleveland (sorry, can't remember his name) and of course Tony Bourdain's visit to Cleveland on No Reservations (which is because of his relationship with Ruhlman).
I'm not in the industry anymore, but if you believe Sauce Magazine, we do have a cool and well respected food/restaurant culture in St. Louis - so do we need an edgy food blogger like Ruhlman to get noticed?

Seriously, I was a little surprised by the Alton Brown show. Who knew we were some kind of Mecca for donut lovers? Not me...
