Jeff Suppan says: "No on 2"
Wow. Every so often I wonder if there's an active, progressive pro athlete in this entire country.

Celebrities yapping about causes they know nothing about - be it Soup against Prop 2, Sheryl Crow for Prop 2 or Tom Cruise ranting on mental health - does nothing but turn me off.

Posted by Kafka on Thu., Oct 26, 2006 at 4:30 PMI have to disagree with Barbara's sentiment. A celebrity is still a person and (in some cases) a US citizen. As such, they have the right to advocate for whatever position they believe in. I disagree with Suppan's position, but it's alright for him to say what he believes. Who knows, he may fully understand the science behind stem-cell research and believe that it is ethically wrong. WE, as consumers of this information, are the ones to blame by putting credence in the views of a celebrity just because they're a celebrity.
