More on Hi-Pointe: Penultimate Show is Comedy
THE HI POINTE IS CLOSING!!!!
JOIN THE NONPROPHETS FOR ONE FINAL HURRAH ON SEPTEMBER 3.
The Hi Pointe Café, located at 1001 McCausland Avenue in Dog Town is shutting its doors after nearly 20 years of serving up good times, good drinks, and the best in local St. Louis music and comedy. The building has been sold, and the last day of operation will be Sunday, September 3.
So, the NonProphets- who made the Hi Pointe our unofficial home since February of 2003- are getting ready to offer one last hurrah in the best dive bar in St. louis.
Join the NonProphets for the Absolute Last, Final Show at the Hi Pointe. We're sending the place off in style with one more episode of THE MILITANT PROPAGANDA BINGO MACHINE, bringing back some old faces, some old sketches, and a creamed corn can full of memories.
Join us, please, for one more night of hilarious fun before they shut the doors forever.
Performing in this show will be Sarajane Alverson, Paula Dean, B. Weller, Bob Mitchell, Tyson Blanquart, John Shepherd, Drew Somervell, Gary Wells, Suzanne Roussin, Chris "Mr. Jones", Aaron Orion Baker, Rebecca Miller, and Jim Ousley. Some surprise guests may be on hand, too, but you'll have to come and see for yourself.
We will be doing a "Mixed Tape" version of the show, missing some old sketches in with some new ones. All of which are guaranteed to tickle your funny bone... and a few other places as well.
So please join us in our tribute to Lisa and the amazing staff at the Hi Pointe, and help celebrate their 19 years as a St. Louis staple.
Reservations can be made by calling 314-752-5075 or emailing reservations@nptco.org
The doors open at 6:00 pm and the show begins at 7:00. It may be early for a NonProphet show, but don't let that stop you from coming out.

Posted by annie on Wed., Aug 30, 2006 at 4:03 AMSo they lied to me with this?: "Join the NonProphets for the Absolute Last, Final Show at the Hi Pointe." I know longer know what to believe!
But I am glad that RFT-ers check the site and that's no lie.
Posted by thomas on Wed., Aug 30, 2006 at 9:15 AMi think they meant the final non-prophets show at the hi-pointe...but yes, confusing wording!
see my column for the final weekend lineups; it's up online now!
Posted by annie on Wed., Aug 30, 2006 at 6:27 PMok, crap. i know i'm two or three weeks late here, but i wrote this press release at, like, 3 in the morning, and didn't really proof it before sending it out. In addition to alluding to the fact (incorrectly) that the NonProphets were the absolute final last show, I also wandered in and out of tenses and perspectives.
totally my fault. i did mean to say that it was the NP's last Hi Pointe show, but that didn't come through.
sorry for the shameful mistake! won't happen again (actually, it might....)
=)
i do have to say, though, i stuck around for The Advantage.... wasn't impressed. What a crappy way for the Hi Pointe to go out. Too bad it couldn't have been the Bell Rays or someone like that....
